How to Install and Configure File Server in Windows Server 2016
- File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) :
- File Server Resource Manager (FSRM) is an important addition that’s configurable with the File and Storage Services role.
File Server Installation :
- Step - 1 : Open Server Manager in Windows Sever 2016.
- Step - 2 : On Dashboard click Add Role and Features and click Next.
- Step - 3 : Select Role-based or Feature-based installation and click Next.
- Step - 4 : On the Select server roles box, expand File and Storage Services, expand File and SCSI Services, and then select the File Server Resource Manager check box.
- Step - 5 : Click on Add Features.
- Step - 6 : On the Confirm installation selections box, click Install and wait few minutes for installation to be completed.
- Installation Begins.
- Step - 7 : Installation Succeeded, Now Click on Close.
File Server Configuration :
- Step - 8 : Click on Tools and then Open File Server Resource Manager.
- Step - 9 : Expand File Screening Management, and then click File Group, Right Click File Group and click Create File Group.
- Step - 10 : Type File Group Name like this : " Help Tech Files ". Include *.torrent and *.mp and click Add and in Exclude box *.docx and *.xlsx and click Add then OK.
- Now Click OK.
- Step - 11 : Verify that Help Tech Files available in the File Group list.
- Step - 12 : create a File Screen Template, right click File Screen Template, and click Create a File Screen Template.
- Step - 13 : Type Template Name " Help Tech Files " then under File Group, Select Help Tech Files check box and Go To Event Log.
- Step - 14 : Click Send warning to event log and click OK to continue.
- Step - 15 : Verify that Help Tech Files is listed in the File Screen Template.
- Step - 16 : Create File Screen, right-click File Screens, and then click Create File Screen.
- Step - 17 : Type or Select File Screen Path, then under Derive Properties from this File Screen Template Drop-Down list box. And Click " Help Tech Files " and then click Create.
- Now Click Create.
- Step - 18 : Verify that File Screen Path is listed in File Screens.
Result :
File Server successfully Installed and Configured in Windows Server 2016 and ready for use and Now, We can access that shared folder using other device, which is in Network.
